THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTH ALABAMA RECEIVES NEARLY $100,000 FUNDING FROM THE GULF RESEARCH PROGRAM

The Community Foundation of South Alabama (CFSA) has been awarded grant funding in the amount of $99,308 to launch a new science-based and community-driven project that will advance disaster adaptation at the local level.

The Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine issued over $1.43 million to support 15 collaborative projects from Houston, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama. These awards were issued through the Adaptive Capacities for Transformation (ACT) Initiative, which leverages sciences, collaborations, and investments to promote health, resilience, and disaster adaptation.

As project lead, CFSA will be working with the City of Mobile, the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency, The Nature Conservancy and the University of South Alabama to develop innovative approaches for future project implementation.

“We are incredibly grateful for this investment in our work,” said Rebecca Byrne, President and CEO of CFSA. “This funding allows us to deepen our impact and continue building resilient communities so that residents have the support they need to overcome challenges and thrive.”
