Community Resilience and Disaster Initiative
Resilience
We support the organizations, and partnerships that help communities prepare for and respond to disasters. By funding collaboration, sharing knowledge, and strengthening readiness and coordination, we help build a resilient network that can support community needs before, during, and after disasters.
Recovery
We support communities through every stage of recovery, from addressing immediate needs after a disaster to the long-term work of rebuilding and healing. By providing funding and resources, we help communities recover stronger while working to reduce financial, social, and environmental inequities that can slow recovery and limit opportunity.
CFSA Disaster Resilience & Recovery Grantmaking Fund
A designated financial resource designed to support all aspects of recovery to strengthen disaster-affected communities, from preparedness and planning to rebuilding and closing the gap to address financial, social and environmental inequities.
Community Resources
The Community Foundation of South Alabama works closely with government agencies and community organizations across our eight-county service area to assess the most critical needs facing our communities. Our goal is to identify where help is needed most and ensure that people are informed of the available resources, services, and support.

Nonprofit Partners
When disaster strikes, strong local organizations are essential to helping communities, families, and individuals recover. We partner with key nonprofit organizations that provide on-the-ground assistance to those impacted by disasters, helping meet immediate needs and support the long-term recovery process.
Our goal is to strengthen local nonprofits before disaster strikes so they have the resources, relationships, and capacity needed to respond when their communities need them most. By investing in local nonprofit capacity, fostering partnerships, and supporting preparedness efforts, we aim to ensure that organizations have the resources and relationships needed to respond effectively when disaster strikes.
CFSA defines resilience as the ability of people and communities to anticipate, accommodate, and positively adapt to or thrive amidst changing climate conditions and hazard events. We want to know how your organization meets this definition. Interested in becoming a key disaster response and recovery partner?
